Left Ventricular Reconstruction With realignment of Papillary Muscles Improves Ventricular Function In Ischemic Cardiomyopathy

Sanjay Kumar, R U. Nair.
Yorkshire Heart Centre,Leeds General Infirmary, Great George Street,Leeds, United Kingdom.

This video describes the technique of left ventricular reconstruction using realignment of papillary muscles without resection of viable myocardium in patients with heart failure and a dilated ischemic cardiomyopathy. The left ventricular reconstruction is a simple and safe procedure. The result of this procedure in a small cohort of patients has shown that it improves ventricular function and leads to reversed remodeling.
